The 2009 Xiamen Stone Fair, which took place in March of last year, successfully exhibited the latest improvements in machinery and stone industry.

In the middle of a world economic crisis, and considering the unstable market and weak industry, the Fair exceeded all expectations, with a solid four-day event exhibiting a high level of quality in terms of visitors and exhibitors.

The latest fair welcomed 1,211 exhibiting companies from 423 countries that turned up in the 90,000 m2 of the international site.

The latest fair brought together 86,713 local and foreign industry professionals, 13,896 coming from 125 foreign countries; which is an increase of 22.16%.

Professionals attending in Xiamen included manufacturers, quarry owners, contractors, distributors, specialists in kitchens and retailers from China and the rest of the world.

At the 2009 edition, participating countries included China, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Iran, Brazil, India, Australia, Portugal, France, South Africa, Egypt, Israel, Sweden, Norway, Pakistan, Greece, Canada, Germany, Finland, Japan, Palestine, Armenia, Russia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Vietnam, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand.

Since the 2009 event, the new exhibition centre building offers a total surface of 90,000 m2. This extension represented a growth of 15,000 m2 compared to the 2008 exhibition.

One of the highlights of the latest exhibition in Xiamen was the 2009 Stone World Congress that took place on March 5, 2009. During the congress, interesting presentations were given on the theme “Opportunities and Challenges for the Stone Industry in the present Economy”, by the presidents of the most important industry associations and experts of great international prestige. The conferences were a great success at the event and attracted a large number of exhibitors and business people.
