Export of natural stone is the largest and most traditional industry in the province of Xiamen, and as such it has occupied an important place in external trade for many years.

The production and export of stone in the southern part of the Fujian Province is centuries old and very well-known in China and abroad. This industry is considered as one of the major areas of stone production and export in China and worldwide. To date, there are more than 1,000 professional companies in Xiamen dedicated to the export and import of stone, and 6,000 companies active in the field of stone transformation in neighbouring areas, specialising in the production and export of all types of granite, marble, slabs, ceramic tiles, special forms of stone, slates, carved handicrafts, grave or garden stones.

Xiamen is China’s largest industrial base for stone, one third of exports going through its ports being stone. In recent years, the volume of exports of natural stone reached almost 4.44 million tons, representing 1.25 billion dollars. On the other hand, the volume of imports increased to 2.56 million tons, with a volume of 470 million dollars.

These figures represent globally 60% of the total stone business in China.
