The growth of the import and export market demonstrates that China has a huge capacity to transform stone, in addition to having a large internal consumer market. According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, China reached in 2008 a total volume of stone imports and exports of 5.5 billion dollars, an increase of 17.14% compared to 2007.

Within these figures, stone exports are up to 3.943 million dollars, an increase of 15.06% compared to 2007.

China has now turned into what experts call a “transformation market”. At the same time, the products and technology to manufacture stone are becoming more professional each day. The processing machinery, diamond saws, scouring powders, saffron and abrasives, chemical technology and equipment to increase stone conservation gain great sophistication as internal demand grows. This has helped increase exports to Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, the United States, and the Middle East.
