“Marmomacc meets design” will be presented in 2009 for the third time. Its objective is still the development of projects using marble and stone in collaboration with a selected group of companies, together with internationally renowned architects and designers.

While the 2007 edition dealt with the “lightness of marble” and the focus of the 2008 edition was the concepts of “skin” and “texture” applied to natural stone, the theme for 2009 will be “stone; hybrid and flexible.” The key of the focus will be the development of concepts like hybridization, flexibility, pollution, mutation, metamorphosis and processing.

This third event will have the support of 13 leading companies in the sector and 14 Italian and international designers that will guarantee a cultural and professional exchange of the highest level.

This project’s aim is to combine the processes of production and the metamorphosis of the shapes and styles of stone. The issue of the material’s flexibility will also be covered from the concept of sustainability, guaranteeing a better investment of resources. These concepts translate into a search for innovative technological solutions and the reduction of general work expenses in processing.

The purpose of “Marmomacc meets design” is to support a featured group of companies in each edition of the exhibition that are committed to following and observing common rules that allow them to create an experimental and technical piece of work.
